I’m sure you’ve heard it from your caring playing partners after an errant shot, “Keep your head down!”
It has become the universal piece of advice that golfers share with each other… and it’s wrong!
Let me explain why.
One of the key parts to a successful golf swing is good posture. Correct posture allows the torso to rotate freely around your spine.
Your shoulders need room to turn without being obstructed by your chin. Players that keep their heads down tend to have poorer posture and restrict their shoulder turn.
Poor Posture

By lifting your head up, you create more room for the shoulders to turn. This improvement in posture is the best way to improve the contact your club makes with the ball.
Good Posture

Try this the next time you are practicing your golf. I am sure the results will surprise you.
Good Golfing!
